Santa Barbara, Montecito and Summerland Shopping

One of the many advantages to living in Malibu is that you can drive up to Santa Barbara in less than one hour.  One of my favorite antiques shows just happens to be in Santa Barbara, the CALM Antiques, Decorative Arts and Vintage show which happens to be this weekend.  I love to drive up there, see the show then spend the day going to some of my favorite shops in Santa Barbara, Montecito and Summerland.  I drove up yesterday and spent a couple hours at the CALM show and found some great pieces for some of my design clients as well as some french antiques for One Kings Lane.

Here are some of my favorite shops that provide me with a unique shopping experience every time.  My first stop after the show was William Laman, Furniture, Garden and Antiques in Montecito

There is a distinctive mix of merchandise, hand selected by Bruce Gregga and William Laman from their buying trips throughout the world, that reflects a renowned sense of under-stated elegance and an exceptional eye for detail. Which just happens to be right up my alley.

Next stop, Rooms and Gardens on State Street in Santa Barbara which perfectly captures the style of Santa Barbara with their well-curated selection of furniture.

One of my favorite stores in the area is Botanik in Summerland. The owner Erin does an amazing job of styling the store and keeping things fresh with a slight mix of some vintage pieces.  I have been buying from her since she opened.  Its a must stop!

Another favorite  store of mine is  Upstairs at Pierre Lefond which is right across the street from William Laman.   As I was typing this blog post I realized that I have been shopping at William Laman for about fifteen years or longer way back when I worked with the talented designer David Phoenix.

Lastly I love The Summerland Antique Collective, they have a great selection of antiques and vintage pieces. They have 26 dealers with individual tastes which makes them a unique marketplace for more than twenty years.  When I was working on my beach house project in Carpenteria which took a couple years to complete I rented a small space there and sold some of my vintage and antique pieces. Super Fun!!!

There are many more great antique stores in the area,  the ones I mentioned above just happen to be some of my favorites and I make sure to stop by and check out what they have every time I visit the area. I always find great pieces for my clients (and myself)…

Have a great weekend!
