Its such a great accomplishment to finish a huge project that you have been working on for months on end, style it and then photograph it. Then the extra bonus is to actually have it featured in a magazine!!! The March issue of 90265 Magazine was kind enough to feature a project I worked on in the Hollywood Hills. It was a large interior remodel project, bathrooms, kitchen, etc., and furnishings throughout, then after I finished the inside my client hired me to remodel the exterior front and back, hardscape, gazebo, decks, firepit, pool, the whole thing! I don’t normally work on exterior projects maybe one or two every couple of years because it’s so time consuming, but this was a really fun project to take on. Exterior projects are always a challenge. I worked with the landscape designer as well to layout all the plants. My client wanted mature trees so we had them craned into the back because the access was so narrow. That was a stressful day. It was a great project. And I am very proud to share it all with you!
The style of the house is mid century and my client wanted a mix of contemporary and rustic with a comfortable edge.
For most of my projects I love to use Orchids De Oro. The owner, Tom Henry, is so easy to work with and is extremely talented. I’ve been working with him for years. If you want to see some of his work and you live in Los Angeles, he has a large variety of his plants and containters at the Kneedler Fauchere showroom at the Pacific Design Center. I just love the way he mixes the different types of plants, succulents, orchids and bromeliads. Really really beautiful. The photographer I worked with was Dan Collopy. He is super talented and really great to work with. I just finished another restaurant project, which he will be photographing for me in late April, so stay tuned for that!
I am heading of to South Beach, Miami and St Barths this week for an overdue vacation so this will be my office for the next ten days. See you when I get back.
